mara hoffman sale

*
in soho. happening right about now.

there's a lot of stock and there seemed to be a few samples as well. current season swimwear is $75, but a few buckets of miscellaneous swimwear were selling for as low as $10-15. there's a large fitting room with several mirrors in the basement, and the majority of stock seemed to end up down there. staffers were fairly diligent with gathering merchandise and putting it back out upstairs tho.

the place was moderately busy. and...designer mara hoffman was even present...

got myself a few items ^-^...

silk tank $10! (paired with a/x mini)

summery skirt $50

dress $75

this dress was sold "as is" which was written on the tag. i think it's a sample of sorts...i shall have to fix the sleeves because they are a bit loose... but lovin' the fit otherwise.

and...2 bikinis. because i heart the mara hoffman swimwear collection. ^-^

look at these crazy-fun leggings at the mara hoffman sale:

i saw one girl trying on a lot of the leggings...and they actually looked pretty cool on her (i think she ended up buying one of these). seeing her try on all the leggings, (for a split second), even i wanted to try on the crazy-fun leggings. (but ultimately didn't...)

aye, leggings aside...

of course, lots of great mara hoffman dresses at around 75% off retail:

all organized by size.

and lookie, a whole rack of xs!

weekday shopping, it's possible

i made it to the mara hoffman sample sale tonight. it was manageable chaos with the after-work crowd and totally worth the trip downtown. as advertised, merchandise from the spring/summer collection and samples were 80% off, and nothing was priced over $100. there were gorgeous dresses, in small sizes, and after trying on about 10 of them, i picked out one amazing one (pics later...too lazy now). there were also some cute maxi dresses. the sale runs until sunday, and i'm hoping that prices will drop on the last day (as they often do). might be worth checking out again this weekend.

my second stop was the misoreno sample sale which has been ongoing this week, advertising merchandise from miss sixty & energie, with nothing over $29.99. true to word, prices topped out at $29.99, but the miss sixty dresses and skirts (which is what i was looking for) were total crap.

since i was downtown anyway, i bravely decided to check out the dsw gucci sale. earlier this week dsw had been advertising that they would be receiving stock from a secret designer thursday, and pretty much half of the city knew that it was gucci. the only words to describe the scene when i arrived at the dsw union square store was crazy madness. shoppers there weren't going crazy, they were already cr--aazzy. they were elbow to elbow and madly grabbing at merchandise as it was being stocked. gucci bags which retail at $1200 were priced at $400. there were also wallets, luggage tags, scarves, belts, and keychains. but by far, the deal to be had were the shoes. there were some really nice knee-high boots and classic pumps (both of which i do not need at the moment). what i considered the best deal were the booties. good enough of a deal to purchase? yes.

after lining up in dsw to pay (which btw took almost an hour), i headed down the block to pick up some food from trader joe's. at least the queue wasn't as deadly there.

tomorrow is the kenneth cole 925 technology silver edition footwear collection release at the rockefellar store. the black booties and flats in the collection are probably worth checking out in person. apparently mr. cole, himself, will be at the release to sign your shoes (if desired).
